METALS AND MATERIALS WEIGHT CALCULATOR is a tool designed with the materials trade industry in mind, but still being useful in a wide range of applications commonly employed by engineers, architects, builders and material traders.

Its main purpose is to allow the user to compute the single and total weight of common sections, while also providing useful information such as Area, Inertias and Radius of Gyration for the section.

The tool contains two databases that simplifies the calculation.

One that allows the users to select the unit weight of the material by selecting the material type and the alloy. It can be selected by clicking on the Gamma Icon on any application. The unit weight will be displayed in the main window in the units selected by the use (pci, pcf, kilograms-force/cubic meters).

The user can then select any of the unit weights from the database of input its own value for the calculation.

The other contains a database of several Gauge Standards. Although meant for thickness and height of Sheet Metal, any dimension can be entered from this database by selecting the dimension button at the left of the input box.

The program will also accept inputting the values in units independently of the other values. For example, width can be entered in Feet, while height in inches or millimeters and length in yards or meters (any combination of inches, feet, yards, millimeters, centimeters, meters). Unit weight can also be entered in pci (pounds per cubic inch), pcf (pounds per cubic feet) or kg.f/m^3 (kilograms force per cubic meter).

If a value for any property of the section has been entered and the unit is changed, the program will update that value to the new unit selected.

Single and Total Weight can be outputted in pounds, kips, Tons or Tonnes (Metric Tons), while Area, Inertias and Radius of Gyrations in inches, centimeters or millimeters.

The material weight database currently contains mostly Metals, which is the main focus of the application. It also currently contains a large selection of Plastics. This database will grow based on user requests and provided as free upgrades.

The following materials libraries are available:
- Alloy Steel
- Aluminum
- Brass
- Bronze
- Copper
- Copper Alloys
- Magnesium
- Nickel
- Plastic
- Stainless
- Steel
- Titanium
- Zinc

The Gauge database contains the following standards:
- US Standard
- Stainless Steel
- Sheet Steel
- Galvanized Steel
- Strip and Tubing
- Aluminum

User feedback is highly appreciated, the application will grow based on your input.

Custom application development services for windows, mac and mobile devices available.
